In this hourly, remote contractor role, you will work as an Accounting Subject Matter Expert (SME) to review AI-generated accounting and finance responses and/or create expert accounting content, evaluating reasoning quality and step-by-step problem-solving while providing precise written feedback. You will assess solutions for accuracy, clarity, completeness, and adherence to the prompt; identify errors in bookkeeping logic, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, financial statement presentation, and controls; fact-check technical accounting claims; write high-quality explanations and model solutions that demonstrate correct methods; and rate and compare multiple responses based on correctness and reasoning quality. This role is with SME Careers, a fast-growing AI Data Services company and subsidiary of SuperAnnotate, delivering training data for many of the world’s largest AI companies and foundation-model labs.

Important

There is no immediate project for this role; however, if qualified, you will be among the first experts we reach out to when relevant opportunities arise. This will also provide you with access to future projects available through our expert network.

Key Responsibilities

Develop AI Training Content: Create detailed prompts and gold-standard accounting outputs (journal entries, explanations, close checklists, reconciliations logic, scenario analyses).
Optimize AI Performance: Evaluate and rank AI responses to improve correctness, clarity, and adherence to GAAP/IFRS and best practices.
Ensure Model Integrity: Test AI outputs for inaccuracies, misleading guidance, unsafe assumptions, and bias; validate reliability across business scenarios.

Your Profile

Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA/ACCA/CMA (or local equivalent) is a strong plus.
5+ years of professional experience in accounting (public accounting, industry, shared services, or advisory).
Strong command of core accounting areas: revenue/expense recognition, accruals, prepaid/deferred items, fixed assets, inventory basics, payroll basics, and taxes awareness.
Proven ability to prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close deliverables with attention to auditability.
Solid understanding of financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) and common classification/presentation issues.
Familiarity with internal controls concepts (segregation of duties, approvals, documentation standards) and audit readiness.
Comfortable evaluating answers for internal consistency (sign conventions, debits/credits, timing, cut-off, supporting schedules) and business realism.
Minimum C1 English proficiency with the ability to write clear, structured explanations and follow detailed guidelines.
Reliable, self-directed, and able to deliver consistent quality in an hourly, remote contractor workflow across time zones.
Prior experience with AI data training/annotation, accounting QA, audit review, or technical accounting writing is strongly preferred.

This business has grown quickly.

And like a lot of scaling businesses, operational complexity has increased faster than the systems and processes underneath it.

That’s exactly why they’re hiring.

This is not a role for someone who wants perfectly polished processes and a quiet finance function. It’s for someone hands on, organised and proactive who enjoys getting stuck in and helping bring structure to a growing business.

There’s a lot happening across inventory allocation, AP/AR workflows, invoice processing, stock reporting and operational finance support. At the moment, quite a lot of manual work still sits inside the process, so they need someone who is happy rolling their sleeves up and helping improve the day-to-day finance operation.

You’ll work closely with both finance and operations, supporting transactional accounting, finance administration and reporting across the business.

The environment is fast moving, collaborative and very SME in feel. Good people, growing business and plenty of exposure.

The Role

This is a broad Assistant Accountant role supporting the wider finance function during a busy growth period.

You’ll be involved across:

Purchase ledger and invoice processing
AP and AR support
Supplier reconciliations
Inventory and stock reporting
Consignment stock tracking
Matching inventory costs and sales activity
Finance admin and operational support
Supporting month-end processes
Maintaining reporting accuracy across the finance function
Helping improve finance processes and workflows
Supporting wider systems and ERP improvement projects where needed

A big part of the role is helping the business create more structure and visibility as operational complexity continues to grow.

What They’re Looking For

Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant or transactional finance role
Comfortable working across AP, AR and finance operations
Strong attention to detail
Good Excel skills
Someone hands on and proactive
Comfortable in fast moving SME environments
Organised and adaptable
Experience in inventory, stock or product-led businesses would be beneficial
Exposure to ERP systems or process improvement work would also help

As Coder's first EMEA-based Senior Accountant, you’ll be a key member of Coder’s Controllership team, with a primary focus on our UK entity. This role matters because you keep local accounting operations accurate, the close on track, and statutory requirements covered as we grow internationally.

You’ll run day-to-day entity accounting, work closely with Controllership, and coordinate with external advisors and accountants as needed. You’ll partner with Finance and cross-functional teams to keep reporting clean, controls practical, and compliance on time.

What you’ll do here

Serve as a Controllership team representative in EMEA, with primary responsibility for the day-to-day accounting operations of the Coder UK entity.
Own or coordinate core monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities for the UK entity, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, intercompany activity, and reporting support.
Partner with third-party accounting firms and advisors, potentially including BDO, to support bookkeeping, statutory filings, local compliance, and other in-country accounting requirements.
Ensure accounting records, supporting documentation, and reporting processes meet local statutory and regulatory requirements in the UK and, over time, broader EMEA needs.
Act as the local point of contact for external audits, statutory audits, and compliance-related requests tied to the UK entity.
Work closely with the global controllership team to align local accounting treatment with company-wide policies, close timelines, and internal controls.
Support intercompany processes, cash activity, invoicing flows, and other operational accounting needs tied to a global parent-subsidiary structure.
Help improve processes as we scale, with an eye toward accuracy, timeliness, and clear ownership across internal teams and external partners.

What we’re looking for

Strong accounting experience in the UK, with hands-on knowledge of local statutory requirements, financial reporting obligations, and entity-level compliance.
Experience managing accounting for a UK subsidiary of a global company or working in a multinational environment with cross-border reporting needs.
Solid understanding of monthly close processes, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, intercompany accounting, and operational accounting fundamentals.
Experience working directly with external accountants, auditors, or outsourced finance partners.
Ability to operate independently in-region while staying tightly aligned with a global controllership organization.
Strong judgment, attention to detail, and a practical approach to building reliable processes.
Clear communication skills and comfort working across time zones with finance and non-finance partners.
Based in London or able to work closely with the London market and UK entity requirements.

Bonus tacos if you have

Professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, or CIMA.
Experience supporting statutory audits and year-end financial statement preparation.
Familiarity with working alongside firms such as BDO or other outsourced accounting providers.
Experience in a high-growth software or SaaS company.
Broader exposure to EMEA entity support beyond the UK.
Experience with ERP systems, close management tools, and improving finance processes in a scaling environment.

Team and scope

This role sits within Controllership and works closely with Finance.
The initial focus is the Coder UK entity, with potential to support broader EMEA accounting needs over time.
This is a senior individual contributor role with meaningful ownership in-region and a clear path to grow into Accounting Lead, EMEA as our international footprint expands.
You’ll be the in-region accounting partner, working with internal stakeholders and external firms to keep day-to-day accounting operations running smoothly.
