We are currently seeking an experienced qualified accountant to join our Head Office Accounts team. This is an ideal role for a positive, proactive and enthusiastic team player. You will be joining our Head Office team and will be working closely with the Head of Accounting to establish and uphold appropriate procedures and controls.

This is a key role to support and strengthen the accounting function of a Lidl GB sister company and an exciting opportunity to further your career.

The ideal candidate will require experience with external statutory reporting, ensuring it is produced accurately and in a timely manner for UK

What you'll do

Responsible for month end/year end closing

Liaising with stakeholders both in the UK and our international head office and on projects and policies impacting the financial accounts

Initially being responsible for purchase ledger and receivables functions including processing and raising invoices

Ensuring accounting functions are up to date with regulatory changes

Ensuring compliance and implementation of new and existing accounting policies

Assisting with queries from, and delivery of data to, internal and external auditors .

Evaluation and accounting depiction of complex processes

Supervision of investment projects from an asset accounting point of view

Determination, periodic posting and documentation of additions and disposals as well as depreciation of fixed assets

Preparation and implementation of inventories.

Being the point of contact for all financial matters with regards to the sister companies

What you'll need

Fully qualified ACCA/ACA is essential

Previous experience from practice and ideally from industry

Working knowledge of FRS102 and Fixed Assets essential

Excellent communication skills and confidence in partnering with stakeholders

Confident in identifying, resolving and escalating key points/issues requiring immediate address and managing assumptions and decisions.

Excellent computer skills - including Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint and accounting packages, SAP FI experience is beneficial

Self-motivated with exemplary organisational skills, able to multi -task and manage their own work

Excellent time management skills with the ability to work to deadlines

Some travel throughout the UK and abroad will be required (including training in Germany)

German language is desirable but not essential
