We are recruiting a full-time (37.5 hours) Night Care and Support Worker in our new build Retirement Living Service, in central Hendon. There are a range of shifts for staff including working some weekend work.

You will need to commit to our fixed 2 week rota:

Week 1

Monday Tuesday Saturday Sunday

Week 2

Wednesday Thursday Friday

We offer a 6-week induction training programme, which will enable new staff to understand how we work with tenants and provide a culturally appropriate service. The Role

You will be working in a friendly, interesting and compassionate team in a new build complex of 32 apartments in the heart of Hendon in North West London

The role of Night Care and Support Worker to ensure the we provide our tenants with safe, compassionate and person-centred support and care. Supporting the whole care and support team, being a team player, building relationships with tenants and their families and encouraging inclusion in community activities and other social and recreational opportunities within the scheme and in the wider local environment. Care and support provide support to tenants by working alongside Care and Support colleagues to ensure the smooth running of the Retirement Living service, joining up services within the building and providing some direct care and support to tenants alongside colleagues

This role will work with colleagues on both the care and housing elements of the service , ensure the communal areas of the building are organised , well presented and in working order, working with colleagues to deliver activities and exciting social and recreational opportunities both within and outside the building and working with Team Leaders and the Independent Living Manager to ensure the service runs smoothly , delivering a great experience to tenants their families and support networks .

We are looking for candidates with positive energy who enjoy working with people and understand the importance of team working. You will need to make decisions independently and develop trusting and respectful; relationships with all members of the team and tenants and their families.

You will need to be flexible and helpful in your way of working, having high personal standards of timekeeping and attendance be friendly and approachable and enjoy working with people with a range of physical disabilities and mental health needs.

The scheme houses Older Jewish People, so you will be interested in other people, their culture and preferences for living. All training in terms of understanding the Jewish way of life is provided during our extensive induction training.

Principal accountabilities / responsibilities

You will mainly provide background support and will support care and support assistants to :

• Check tenants well-being on a regular basis, as directed according to their needs as detailed in their Care, support and Risk Plans.

• Respond to emergencies.

This includes:

• Contacting emergency services.

• Dealing with breakdown of services, e.g. power cuts, responding appropriately to death, keeping a record of all emergencies attended to.

• Providing background support

• implementing and monitoring care & support plans to meet the individual needs of a diverse group of Tenants

• ensuring updates are reported for support plans to be reviewed as required.

• Support colleagues to deliver the package of care & support: providing personal care, emotional and practical support to tenants and recognising when there are changes in a person's needs and report to a senior member of staff.

• Contributing to building community spirit within the resource through participating, encouraging, enabling and facilitating social events that meet the needs of diverse tenants.

• Assisting with the preparation and provision of hot meals, communally or individually in tenant flats, observing Kashrut procedures always.

• Ensure you work safely within health & safety standards, raising any risks or issues in a timely manner with a Manager.

• Assisting tenants to report maintenance and repairs needs to the housing team.

• Keeping a record of all financial transactions carried out on behalf of the tenant. Contribute to effective team working and positive service culture, and be able to work effectively with people living with dementia and promote health and well-being for all tenants.

Qualifications, Experience, Skills & Knowledge

• Desirable but not essential

• NCQ level 2 in Health and social Care.

• Previous Experience within a Care or Health setting.

• Other relevant transferable skills and experience.

• Excellent communication

• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships

• Excellent tenant service skills
